Accessibility Statement for New Beginnings Counseling Center (SBNBCC)

New Beginnings Counseling Center is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Our goal is to provide an inclusive, user‑friendly digital experience that reflects our mission of supporting individuals, families, veterans, and community members throughout Santa Barbara County. We work continuously to improve accessibility and usability across all areas of our site.

Conformance Status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet this standard. We are actively working toward full conformance.

How We Support Accessibility

  • WCAG‑aligned design — Clear structure, headings, labels, and predictable navigation.
  • Keyboard accessibility — We aim for all interactive elements to be operable without a mouse.
  • Screen reader compatibility — Semantic HTML, meaningful link text, and ARIA support where appropriate.
  • Color and contrast — We aim for text and interface elements to meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast requirements.
  • Accessible media — Images include alternative text; videos include captions when available.
  • Mobile accessibility — Pages reflow properly and support assistive technologies on mobile devices.
  • Ongoing monitoring — Regular reviews using automated tools and manual testing.
  • Accessibility toolbar — We use UserWay, a third‑party accessibility widget, to provide additional display and navigation options. This tool supplements — but does not replace — our ongoing work to build accessibility directly into the site.

Known Limitations

We are actively working to improve accessibility across the site. Some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards, including:

  • Third‑party widgets or embedded content
  • Older PDF documents
  • Occasional images missing descriptive alt text
  • Legacy pages undergoing redesign
  • Some interactive popups have a technical quirk flagged by automated scanners as duplicate IDs; manually verified as fully accessible.

These items are part of our ongoing remediation plan.
