Safe Parking Program® 20th Anniversary Luncheon
This special luncheon will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Safe Parking Program in Santa Barbara County. The event will honor Congressman Salud Carbajal and the Hon. Susan Rose for their commitment and dedication to ensuring the continuation of the Safe Parking Program in our area. This event will be held at the Santa Barbara Woman’s Club at 670 Mission Canyon Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105.

Dr. Michele Wakin
Michele Wakin is a Professor of Sociology at Bridgewater State University. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University and both Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dr. Wakin has published in the journals Contemporary Sociology, Social Forces, American Behavioral Scientist, and City & Community. She is the author of three books on homelessness: Otherwise Homeless: Vehicle Living and the Culture of Homelessness (2014), Hobo Jungle: A Homeless Community in Paradise (2020), and American Homelessness: A Reference Handbook, (2022).
Her research has been funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Institute for Labor and Employment, and the American Sociological Association.
