New Beginnings 2025 Annual Fundraiser

New Beginnings 2025 Annual Fundraiser

New Beginnings’ annual fundraisers aim to both educate and entertain our community, spotlighting critical social issues and the essential programs we support. This year, we’re excited to bring back the brilliant Jonny Donahoe to reprise his role in Every Brilliant Thing, alongside another very special event—more details to be revealed soon!

What is Every Brilliant Thing?

Every Brilliant Thing is a captivating one-man show written and originally performed by Jonny Donahoe. This poignant, yet hilarious performance follows a boy growing up in the wake of his mother’s mental illness, exploring themes of hope, humor, and resilience. With over six hundred performances across four continents, including five months off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theater, this show has captured hearts worldwide. In fact, we were honored to present Every Brilliant Thing for our 2022 Annual Gala, which was a resounding success.

The show has been adapted by many performers globally, and HBO even produced a documentary special about it. We’re thrilled to welcome Jonny Donahoe back to Santa Barbara for the 2025 fundraiser, offering this extraordinary experience to our donors and community members once again.

Why Storytelling Matters

At New Beginnings, we believe in the power of storytelling to address complex social issues like mental illness and homelessness. Through engaging narratives, we can break down the psychological barriers that often prevent individuals from understanding or acting on these issues. Stories that humanize and personalize such challenges not only capture attention but also inspire lasting change in perceptions and behaviors.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of powerful storytelling, laughter, and connection as we continue our mission to create lasting impact within our community. Your participation in this event helps further our work, offering support and hope to those who need it most.
